Cultivated species
Observations of introduced species or individual cultivated plants can seriously distort species distribution models. On the other hand, these same observations may be central to studies of invasive species or crop plants. Every effort should be made to detect and flag such observations to enable BIEN users to include or exclude them, according to the needs of their particular analysis. These pages track the development and implementation of algorithms for the detection of introduced species and cultivated plants.
