Connecting to an image via Remote Desktop

Atmosphere's Remote Desktop uses a Virtual Network Computing (VNC) that allows one or many Atmosphere users to access an image in a graphical desktop environment on their local machines that is being run on CyVerse resources. The underlying protocol works across operating systems and platforms (though not in Chrome on OS X, as mentioned above), and allows remote users to access, use, and share a computer system. There are many free VNC clients or viewers, some of which are mentioned in this section.

Having problems in Chrome on Mac OS X?

VNC Viewer is not compatible with the Chrome browser on Mac OS X (though not in Windows or Linux) due to compatibility issues between Chrome and Java. If you experience Java errors and failure to launch, use the Safari or Firefox browsers or download the standalone VNC viewer from RealVNC.
