iPG2P PhytoBisque
July 2, 2010; 10am PDT
Present: Edgar, Logan, Kris, Karla, Matt, Dmitry, B.S. Manjunath
Notes/Agenda:
- Integrating Bisque into iPlant Collaborative
- 2 layers of services that public can interact with
- software layer
- iPlant DE sits on top of services and wraps up in nice layer
- 2 layers of services that public can interact with
- Bisque deployment easy on backend then tackle engineering principles
- Mission critical dependencies:
- look carefully at what choice
- what is the infrastructure at iPlant? We can’t replicate it here so can we build something
- wants to know what’s on horizon?
- sooner start collaboration with iPlant, sooner get credentials
- Project will stay independent but there will be very close collaborations with the iPlant Development Team
- iPlant is interested in looking for people to bring own methods/tool into iPlant Collaborative
- via iPlant incubator projects
- need to tightly enumerate what we want to do
- via iPlant incubator projects
- With Bisque:
- finish off 04 services
- could deploy with 04 at iPlant
- 05 has plugin for Shibboleth
- Turbogears I has plugin and Turbo 2 might now
- use 04 for 6 months (and Edgar too)
- one strategy is to test out 04 to make sure iPlant has everything needed
- think about additional use cases and algorithm development
- part of goal is to revamp Bisque API
- Could start deployment of 04 just to get feet wet but no real development until after September
- would like to see this happen as bring modular, it should make it easier for biologist with images and CS with algorithms to meet up
- Swap out domain specific algorithm, if iPlant can help do the hot swap
- Could think about joint publication
- From iPlant – get someone to work within, iPlant to set up Bisque instance
- End goal: templated way of doing QTL analysis using Bisque
Next meeting time:
Adjournment:
