What I'd like to do is implement the following: a prototype taxon service that accepts NeXML via PhyloWS, takes all names it can find in the <OTUs>, assembles a set of metadata that provide added meaning to each name by querying other services, and then spits back NeXML in which all the <OTUs> now have added metadata tags. In other words, it's a simple NeXML metadata decoration service.
I think I can develop this with Jerry Lu in close consultation with Rutger. This has the advantage of offering (1) a simple service that we can demo in Phoenix, and (2) getting Jerry's work on PhyloWS in sync with Rutger's.
