If there's time, Naim and I can take you through our presentation on the Metadata Mapper, which we presented in the special session on Perceptual and Cognitive Challenges in Visualizing Bioinformatics Data, at the Conference on Human Vision and Electronic Imaging January 25, 2011. It discusses the fundamental iPlant concept of linked components, describes the importance of sharing metadata between components to support "brushing," describes our first steps toward and architecture, shows a biologically-relevant example, and describes perceptual rules for guiding user choices.  The final paper will be available soon.
